Thank you to Grandpa Devin and his friend for coming to Singing Tree and sharing their musical talents with us. We danced and had a wonderful time experiencing the guitar, the saxophone and plenty of songs.

Singing Tree Opening

July 2018
2 years old

We are looking to welcome a family into our daycare family.  Singing Tree is more than a daycare it's a place where children play and are given the permission to be themselves. It's a place where families become friends and build on their community.

Forrest Park

If you live in Ottawa, you don't have far to go to find green space.  Chamberlain park is our favourite green space to play in. We refer to it as forrest park, and love it's charm of trees, green grass and the opportunity to feel like we are in the forrest, while in the heart of the city.  Both children and adults feel the benefits of being in mother nature's playground.

On our last adventure to forrest park we climbed an old fallen tree.

We are waiting for the branches to start budding with life.

Hailey is practicing her balancing act.

Apple Picking

On September 21rst Singing Tree families old and new met at Ferme Dagenais in Embrun for some apple picking.  It was so much fun to gather with families and share the joy of picking from nature's fruits.

It was a great community building experience.  I loved watching the children with their parents.  It is such a unique bond, the parent child relationship.

It was great to see Singing Tree alumni students.  They grow up so fast and it's an honour to be able to follow their growth even after they've left our daycare fold.

Pinto Beans get colourful

Today we got busy filling zip lock bags with pinto beans.  We then squirted a few drops of florescent food colouring in the bag, seal it tight and had fun shaking it about.  The results were beautiful bright coloured beans.  We will use the beans for sorting, counting and crafts.

Child Engagement

We have this theory that kids have a short attention span.  I say myth because from my observations, when engaged, children can stay focused for long periods of time, one single on task.  I observed this yesterday, when we took the paints outside. We painted with our hands and our feet.  We also created a little water world by filling different buckets with water and washed some toys and furnisher.  The children were engaged, attentive to their play and work.  Discipline was easy.  I think that the secret to being with children is getting to know them and facilitate their environment so that their spirits and creative minds are fed.  Once, this is accomplished everything is easy, well most of the time :)

Outdoor Fun

We created our own little potted garden :)

The children loved digging in the dirt and filling the big pots.

It brightens up our yard and we are enjoying watching everything grow.  Spring truly is a miracle of life!
